One of the greatest joys of having kids is watching their joy and happiness to the most simple things in life. Before they move on to the stage where the latest technology is king, there are a few years where their little faces light up to small and simple pleasures.
Bonfire night is one example. A pack of sparklers so that they can Chillout with a glow a hot dog and a glass of squash. However cold it is and however much their noses run they are just happy to be there in the glow of the bonfire, clutching their sparklers in their gloved hands.
Though they have no idea of the intricacies of what bonfire night might mean, they just enjoy the simple pleasure of watching the fireworks in wonderment.
Another sight to behold is kids on the beach. Their enjoyment of the beach is indescribable, as they scrabble in the sand and make sandcastles; as they decorate their castles with paper flags and shells; as they bury dad's legs in the sand until he begs for mercy.
With a dripping ice-cream in one hand and a small fishing net in the other, they spend hours exploring in the rock pools, before coming back with their prize of a few sea shells and maybe a crab. Many a child's happiest memories are formed on the beach.
